2024 HOTRODS N HILLS |
This year Hot Rods an hills was a little different, due to a clash of events ‘The Street Weekend’ and another static show event ‘The Truck Fest’ a lot of key players were missing in action and they were off dragging the orange belt up and down the country instead, good on them too as it is the diversity of event that keep this hobby of ours alive, since the covid lockdowns we have lost so many shows and static events its great to see some new ones come to life and spread the love around a little. Hot Rods & Hills never disappoints in its unique way the event is held IE: not being a show and shine event, you drive you’re car not sit and polish it all weekend in the hope to take back a small metal thing to put on the mantle when you get home, I guess I mean that the hills was a little different because it was a little more quite than it has been in years in the past but it was full of the die hards that are and will always be at the event it just made a change that when we got on the field to set up we didn’t have to fight to get a camping spot we could take our pick.
As we arrived on Thursday and most were away to the street weekend we could chill out a bit more and have a wander around camp have a chat to some good friends and have a walk down the lakeside into pooley bridge for some food and drinks call in the shops and get some beers for the night, as Friday morning came round (funny how that happened’s after a Thursday night eh!) more people arrived and by Friday night it was starting to fill up from people finishing work and making the trip over, ParkFoot caravan park is such a huge place, I grabbed my camera for a walk around on the hunt to find some sweet rods an customs up the top end of the camp site, little did I know when I got back to camp I had been gone 3 hours! Park Foot Caravan park is set in the lake district of lake Ullswater and is a beautiful place, the walk into pooley bridge is just stunning and well worth the short ten min walk in to the shops and pubs with I have to say some amazing food, and back to camp to see friends that I haven’t seen for a very long time Friday also held the first of 3 cruises out over the space of the 4 day event with one out on the Saturday & Sunday as I said this event is about driving you’re cars not polishing them but the main thing about this event it’s the same as any event, its what you make of it that makes the event, as luck would have it it only rained a bit but the sun would always come out and crack a smile once in a while as Saturday rolled on the suntan lotion did too the beer gardens filled up and so did the crack with people you knew, some didn’t make it till the last minute but they made it and that’s what counts, right, all in all it was as always a great weekend and I still know some that have never been to the hot rods & hills, come on pull ya finger out! Just joking but never say never get yourself booked in for the fun an frolics at the HRH you wont regret it!! Next Years event is 5th of June to the 8th June at ParkFoot Caravan Park, call them to book and mention you are with the ‘Hotrods’
