2018 CLYDESIDE CRUISERS RUN

It seems that when you are across the border in Englandshire you don’t really hear of weekend runs up in Scotland, I have been living here now for a good few years and I can tell you the scene here is jumping with events all season of all types and one that is not to be forgotten is Paddy Mccolgan’s Clydeside Cruisers weekend run in Lochwinnoch, Lockwinnoch has not only one of the coolest rod/custom runs of the year but a quiet village 5 minutes walk away, well I say quiet not so much when we all turn up with with stonking great V8s rattling all the windows in the place it also has 3 pubs and a spar for all your other needs like stuff for hangovers, always comes in handy, trust me I know. It also has a huge loch 20minutes away and an RSPB Reserve to fill your time in if you wish. Now as we all know we have been having some stonking weather over the last few months but its Scotland and well it does what it wants, and it did with the annual hose pipe ban down south we couldn’t turn ours off, mainly because it came from the sky for 2 days solid but rodders are rodders and needless to say we all said oh look it’s raining.... want a beer and cracked on as per normal, Paddy couldn’t do enough for all of us if you needed anything they would do the most they could to help sort you out, and along with that became good times, the venue at Lochwinnoch was held on a sports grounds at LochBarr services and had a huge sports hall with a bar and loo’s so you were never caught short where ever you were, Friday night in the bar was hosted with a DJ and a free burger at the end of the night cooked on site by the Clydeside Cruisers to perfection, but that wasn’t the bonus because you also got another one free on the Saturday night as well, after a fantastic night was seen off on the Friday everyone was up and getting ready for the cruise Saturday lunch time, this time we had a bit of a surprise as it was an open day at Rolls Royce HQ just next to Glasgow airport where when you arrived you were sent to the cruisers allotted parking area and given a food voucher where you could go to one of the many food vendors and get a plate huge plate of food not only big enough to feed everyone on the Queen Mary but if you dropped it I am sure it would sink it too, after having a nose around inside at some of the engines on display and feeling fat you could have a look around a police van that was there and even if it took your fancy stand in the car park and watch some planes take off from the airport, then if you wanted you could take a short drive to the seaside town of Largs for an ice cream and head back to camp for another night of fun in the bar with the DJ blasting out tunes for all to enjoy before you grabbed that last burger that was cooked and awaiting for you before heading off to bed for the big day Sundays Show & Shine. Sunday morning and all was well as the sun had put his hat on and come out to play, people got up around the campsite and it was like one of the Hollywood movies everyone staring at the sky like at the end of independence day giving thanks to the one who saved them from the rain, only this time real rain. As the morning went on the showfield filled up from day trippers and on site weekend cars and at 12am the gates were opened to the public at only £2 per adult and under 16s free the stalls and food stands were open plus in the bar they were selling Tea & Coffee so after you had filled your belly and looked around the stalls the showfield was filled with classic cars, American & british tin, for you to spend the day looking around talking to owners a fantastic day was had finishing off a excellent weekend, well done to Paddy and Andy and everyone that makes this weekend what it is a total blast of fun regardless of what the weather does to us, See you next year and we hope to see a few of you make it too.

Here is an end of day shoot I did with the lovely Gabriela Nicol and Manjits V8 MG
