2019 PHANTOMS GHOST TOWN HOOTENANNY

Blackford in Scotland is a small quiet village that is chilled out and the normal day to day flow of locals wandering around minding their business, until one weekend a year the sound of V8’s, Hot Rods and custom cars start to roll through the village to go to the Blackford Highland Games Grounds where the Phantoms hold one of the best weekends in Scotland with welcoming arms people came all the way from Leeds and due to a small (not so small really) problem with their caravan took Nick Gumby 9 hours in total having to find someone to help them out along the way but managed to get the help he needed by some kind man with a welder and metal plates to make everything safe again so he could continue on to the Hot Rod Hootananny, fantastic effort by all. As always the Phantoms welcome everyone with open arms and a smile no matter where you travel from and the few that came from the south end of the country got the biggest welcomes of all as they appreciate how far it is and how long it takes to travel to, this year was no exception to that, although the Scottish weather had its own welcome but for one night only the rain clouds gathered up and let go on us, maybe it was its way of saying welcome regardless it said hi and buggered off the next morning leaving a weekend if fun and frolics to be had all weekend long, the Phantoms had put on a DJ for the Friday night in the Village hall just a wee walk just out the lane where the entrance to the show was and it was a bring your own booze to the party, bonus no hefty bar bills, and the DJ played away to the crowd. Saturday was a cool chilled out day with the cruise out to Rock 'N' Roll Motors owned by Jim Horn with a vast array of cars in the shop to wonder around and have a chat about, after the cruise everyone headed back to camp to get ready for the nights entertainment of a DJ and the Rocka Hillbillies to keep you rocking all night long with free burgers that were on offer from the Phantoms just to finish off the night, how much better can it get. Sunday started well and the cars started to roll onto the show field by the weekend goers and the day trippers the field started to slowly fill up and the burger van opened along with the vast array of stalls with alsorts to have a look at as well as walk around the show field and talk to friends and make new ones made for a fantastic day that finished off a fantastic weekend of good times and a huge thanks go out for hosting such a great weekend and we look forward to the next one, if you can get yourself to this one its one not to miss for 2020. Update, unfortunately due to Covid 19 this was the last show the Phantoms held in 2020 & 2021 have been cancelled due to social distancing rules.
